As we aim to build the best place to buy and sell locally, the Apartment Therapy Marketplace mission has always been to turn local strangers into friendly neighbors. At the same time, we’ve been careful to keep the Marketplace a safe, private and trusted environment. And to do that, we rely on ratings submitted by our members that tell us about the experience between a buyer and a seller.
Member can choose a Happy Face (Positive), Sad Face (Negative) or Neutral Face (Neither Positive nor Negative) on every conversation thread. Ratings can be updated at any time throughout the buying/selling process. While the rating is completely anonymous, it automatically gets factored into the receiving members standing on the site.
Once a member receives five ratings by five individual members, their personal rating will show up on under their member verifications. If a member receives a lot of happy ratings, they'll get a “very happy” mark. Interested buyers can see the positive ratings when viewing a seller's corner or listings. If they receive a lot of sad ratings, Marketplace Customer Support will be alerted and will reach out to figure out how they can turn it around.
We recommend that you respond to everyone who contacts you, even if you’ve already sold the item (or no longer want it). Folks appreciate the gesture, and it lessens the likelihood they give you a bad rating for being non-responsive.
Our ratings system lets the voice of the community be heard, helping to guarantee that Apartment Therapy Marketplace continues to be a safe and easy place to buy and sell.
